WashigraphPhoto is a high-definition luxury Japanese paper photo. It is an "evolutionary art of photography" with a texture like a painting.

It is a completely new photographic art born from the fusion of materials and techniques used in traditional Japanese crafts for more than a thousand years and the latest digital technology.

At the Russian exhibition that continues today, it is acclaimed as a "print of light".

Instead of using oil-based ink, which is supposed to deteriorate, Japanese images are formed on Japanese paper using natural materials such as pigments (pigment powder), so there is extremely little deterioration or weathering of conventional photographs, which is also a work of art. We are deepening our value as

The Japanese paper photo works of the Japan Washi Photo Association are special washi papers that collectively manage the image data produced and managed by chairman Nobuaki Tanaka in cooperation with Shiro Goji, the printing director of Awagami Factory. It's a photo print.

It is produced in a different process from the normal print ordered online at Awagami Factory.

In particular, it is highly rated for its amazing blackness. Please understand that it is a completely different dimension from Japanese paper photos using Japanese paper style prints for inkjet printers on the market.

Fusion with traditional Japanese mounting culture = Introducing Japanese washi and mounting (hanging scrolls and folding screens) industries to the world

Through exhibitions abroad, I realized that by mounting Japanese paper on hanging scrolls and folding screens, it is gaining more attention overseas as a “mounting piece” that represents Japan as a work of art.

There are also kit products that glue photographs onto hanging scrolls and folding screens, but the Hyogu works produced by the Japan Washi Photo Association crystallize Japanese paper, cloth, and wood, which were born in the relationship with first-class Hyogu craftsmen. It is a work of art that represents Japan.

The Japan Washi Photo Association is planning to collaborate with architects to create works that fuse contemporary architecture and fine art photography, such as fusuma paintings that feature washi photographs.

Support by collaborating with the Japanese paper and mounting industry・Many of the traditional handmade Japanese paper villages scattered throughout Japan are suffering from a double punch of labor shortages and a shrinking industrial scale. We are facing a crisis. The current situation is that some of the raw materials for Japanese paper, such as kozo and ganpi, are also dependent on imports.

Japanese handmade paper, which boasts tremendous popularity overseas as the finest printmaking paper, has given artists around the world an overwhelming presence by fusing it with photo output technology, which is the crystal of the latest nanotechnology. rice field.

The Japan Washi Photography Association is cooperating with a project to plant seedlings of plants (which can be shipped in about two years) that will be the raw material for washi, and to secure a stable supply of washi.

In addition, the Japan Washi Photo Association actively exhibits WashigraphPhoto works on hanging scrolls and folding screens at museums overseas.

We have already signed a sales plan with a Russian art company and are planning to open a dedicated online shop.

Orenburg Museum of Art, Russia

The current Japan Washi Photography Association is not a photography club or photography organization based on a membership system for photographers.

The basic principle behind the activities of the Japan Washi Photography Association is to introduce to the world a system that creates WashigraphPhoto, the cutting-edge evolutionary photographic art, against the background of traditional mounts and Japanese culture of washi paper. , to solve the problem of successors for craftsmen and producers, and to contribute to the revitalization of the Japanese paper industry scattered in rural areas.

The staff that make up the secretariat are not only photographers, but also a variety of specialists.

The Japan Washi Photo Association has ended the membership system based on the support of photographers, which has been actively working for two years since its establishment. (As of December 2022)

From now on, the photographers participating in the activities of the Japan Washi Photo Association will be called “photographers participating in the international museum collection of WashigraphPhoto,” which the Japan Washi Photo Association is planning in cooperation with related organizations. It will be positioned.

The International Museum Collection is scheduled to include a large number of overseas photographers, mainly from Europe. It will be a group of works.
