Japan Washi Photo Association

ABOUT US

JAPAN WASHIPHOTO ASSOCIATION was established to create works of art that are valued as works of art using photographic printing techniques using ancient Japanese paper.

ACTION PLAN

1. Washi can be preserved for hundreds of years. We will create works of art (hanging scrolls, folding screens, etc.) using washi, on which various traditional Japanese restoration techniques have been cultivated..

2. Through the artworks we create, we will communicate the excellence of washi paper photography to the world.

3.We will actively support the activities of photographers.

4.We aim to become a global group of photographers that includes photographers from overseas.

ICOM&SDGs

International Council of Museums (ICOM) is a world organization headquartered in the UNESCO building in Paris, composed of curators and experts from museums (art galleries) in 137 countries. JAPAN WASHIPHOTO ASSOCIATION is a member of ICOM.

The SDGs, which are the theme of ICOM's activities, have much in common with the creative activities of the Washi Photo Association of Japan. We are working to communicate the importance of environmental conservation and women's participation in society to people around the world.
